Valentine Pretzel Buttons
If you are looking for a great snack these Valentine Pretzel Buttons are perfect! They are an easy snack to make when you need an adorable snack in a hurry. These great to have any time! They are an easy & fun recipe to make with your kids.
These Valentine Pretzel Buttons are wonderful and they get so many compliments, but the best part is that they are so easy to make! You won’t mind making them again & again. While they may look good, they taste even better!
Be warned… they may go quicker than you expect. 😉
I love it when I can find snacks that don’t take too long to make, but they taste just like you bought them at a bakery. That is how these pretzel buttons are… they are the perfect mix of sweet & salty.
A few years ago, when I first made these for a little get-together with some friends & their kids- they were definitely a hit! Everyone loved them! I put them in cute little bowls & set them on all of our tables (on the kitchen table, on the kitchen island, on the dining room table, and on the coffee table in the living room) so they could snack on them no matter where they were hanging out.
The following week, I made them for Bunco (a dice-game that’s played with about 12 people). I had a bowl at each table- they were the perfect bite-sized sweet treat.
Below, I am going to tell you how to make them, with step-by-step directions & I’ll post my affiliate link to get the ingredients on Amazon if you don’t want to run to the store.
These Valentine Pretzel Bites are so easy & take so little time that they are ready in just a few minutes. (That works out since they’ll be gone just a few minutes after that.) 😉
Ingredients for these Valentine Pretzel Buttons:
- Red M&M’s (you can buy the red/pink Valentine ones)
- Square Pretzels (we get this giant bin of pretzels because the kids eat them & then I use the jar to hold our kid’s blocks or legos!)
- Hershey Kisses (any kind).
The ‘Hugs & Kisses’ Hershey Kisses are festive for Valentine’s day.
Time-Saving Tip: After you buy the HUGS (or any kind of Hershey’s kisses), you can invite your kids to help you unwrap them.
Our kids love helping with this and they love to sneak a few while they are unwrapping them. I’m not going to hide it… so do I! ♥
How to Make Valentine Pretzel Buttons:
To make these little Valentine snacks, I took the wrappers off of the Hershey Kisses (check out the tip above).
Next, Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. You want it warm enough to warm the chocolate, so it becomes soft, but not hot enough to completely melt the chocolate or burn it. I’ve done both of those things… learn from my mistake & keep the temperature low.
Once you have the oven preheating, get your baking sheet out. You can line it with parchment paper or foil if you want to make the clean-up a little bit easier.
Line your pretzels on the baking sheet and put one Hershey Kiss on each pretzel.
Cooking TipP: I find it easier to put the Hershey Kisses on the pretzels if they are evenly spaced on the cookie sheet.
Put the chocolate-topped pretzels into the preheated oven and set your timer for four minutes. This is just long enough to let them warm up.
Once the four minutes are up, take your pretzels out and let them sit for 1-2 minutes, to cool just a bit, before adding the M&Ms to the top.
Next, you will carefully put an M&M onto each pretzel, right on top of the warm Hershey Kiss.
(Below is a picture of the ones I made recently with red & white striped peppermint-flavored Hershey Kisses.
Gently press the M&Ms down into the melty Hershey Kiss, just a little bit.
Recipe Tip: I pick M&M colors based on the occasion. I love the red & pink M&M’s for Valentine’s day. ♥
You can easily change these by adding different color M&Ms, like the colorful ones that we added for our Birthday Pretzel Buttons.
Let them cool: I usually either refrigerate them until the chocolate has cooled & hardened again because they are easier & less-messy to handle this way (no one wants to get melted chocolate on their hands when they grab one).
However… you might want to have one for yourself before you refrigerate them because they are delicious when the chocolate is warm. 🙂
TIP: If you are taking these to a party or get-together, you’ll want to wait to put them into a container until the chocolate has hardened, to avoid a mess.
These are seriously so good! They are gone in just a few minutes and everyone will ask for more!
Enjoy!
