This week, I partnered with the awesome team at Sago Mini to bring you some fun ideas!
First off, I downloaded a new app for our kids called Sago Mini BOATS. I originally downloaded it for our younger two kids, Ethan & Allie (Ethan is five and Allie is 3), but the older boys (Beau is 7 and Jack is 9) loved it, too. Sago Sago is super passionate about creating open ended creative play opportunities for kids and parents both on and off the screen. We love that parents find all sorts of creative ways to engage with their kids and the app – even off the screen.
An app doesn’t have to remain just an app – you can bring it to life. Make it educational and give your kids an experience. Bring it “out of the phone” and turn it into a lesson. To show you just what I mean, I partnered with Sago to use their new app (my new favorite), Sago Mini Boats. It is free for a limited time! The app is now available on the App Store and Google Play.
We love to go boating, so I wasn’t surprised that they kids loved it. We go boating every weekend, so I knew that this app would be a success!
So… I told the kids that we would take our new app and turn it into a REAL boat, just like the one that we ride on every weekend!
For the BOATS app, you first pack a suitcase and then pick a boat and then you go boating and you can do different adventures, like go to an island, pick up things along the way, go under the water, jump over the water, etc…
So we wanted to take it a step further and make our own boats! Mickey and I told each of the kids that they could make their own boats and then we would let them race their boats in my bathtub. They loved the idea, because our bathtub has jets, so the kids could make it a “storm” as they call it when the jets are on. They put the boats in, turned on the jets and had a blast!
Here are some materials that the kids used (they picked everything themselves)
-Anything from the woods (Beau grabbed a stick)
-Duck Tape
-Empty bottles from the recycle bin.
-Goldiblocks (the yellow building toys)
-Ribbon
-A hanger
Balance is important and this lets you take a fun, simple app and turn it into something truly amazing! You can build and expand upon these games and your kids will learn a lot and have great memories!

We live on Lake Superior and one of our favorite things to do is go to the beach and search for agates. This weekend, we took a bunch of our agates and made flower pots out of them to give to Nana and Papa for Grandparents Day! We are searching for more fun, creative projects to use our agates for also 🙂

We would look for fun creative things to do together and this app sounds so fun and would do just the job! Thanks for the chance!
I wish I was more creative than I am! :o) However, lately I’ve been trying to come up with creative activities for my extremely curious and active toddler.
I have been creating handmade Halloween decorations this year.
My 4 yr old daughter loves to make cardboard crowns to go along with her dress up costumes!
My son would love to make a nice airplane
My daughter just went back to school so weekends become craft time now! We just did a Halloween Wreath for the front door!
My son would love this!
I especially enjoy doing projects with paper! I just finished making our Halloween greeting cards.
I just made a burlap wreath with some fun fall decorations.
We just had a long weekend and did lots of fun crafts & experiments! My favorite was using our big food boxes( we shop at BJ’s, so everything is big) and making a multi-level doll house for my daughters tiny dolls! It wasn’t too messy and the kids really had fun doing it!
My sisters love the toca boca hair salon app and we’d love to download more of the company’s apps
I think that we will build pirate boats.
I made a car wash for my kids’ matchbox cars, and they loved cleaning all of them!
My latest creative endeavor was using heat transfer vinyl to put letters on a t-shirt. Not super creative, but I like the shirt.
