I love our children’s preschool! It is wonderful and they are learning so much! They are even helping our kids with the 5 essential non-acamdemic skills that a Kindergartener must know (you can see this post on why I waited to send our kids to Kindergarten).
I love the adorable arts and crafts that our 6 year old brings home from preschool every week. He is very creative (which is why we made him this DIY creativity kit for a gift- it keeps him busy for hours on end), so these projects are great for him. He can create and then he can use what he has made to play!
Today I am going to share these two crafts that he made in school… a DIY airplane & train craft made from materials that you already have at home!
Lets start with the airplane- this one is so easy.
MATERIALS:
- DIRECTIONS:
- 1. Simply paint the toilet paper roll whatever color you choose.
- 2. Optional: Paint the popsicle stick (or a tongue depressor) the color that you want for the wings.
- 3. Cut s small slit on each side of the toilet paper roll to allow the stick to go all the way through…
- That’s it!
THEY ALSO MADE THIS ADORABLE TRAIN (SEE BELOW)!
MATERIALS:
- EGG CARTON
- TOILET PAPER ROLL
- COTTON BALLS (2)
- PAINT
- GLUE
DIRECTIONS:
1- CUT THE EGG CARTON UNTIL YOU HAVE IT LOOKING LIKE THIS ONE.
2- PAINT THE EGG CARTON AND THE TOILET PAPER ROLL
3- GLUE THE TOILET PAPER ROLL ONTO THE EGG CARTON
(SEE STEP FOUR LATER)
STEP 4:
PULL YOUR COTTON BALL UNTIL IT LOOKS LONGER. I WOULD DO TWO OF THEM TOGETHER. GLUE THEM INTO THE TOILET PAPER ROLL. THIS WILL BE THE SMOKE:
STEP 5: LET THIS DRY AND THEN LET YOUR KIDS PLAY!
I hope that you enjoyed those! Our kids play with them constantly! We have made duplicates for our other two boys and they all play together!
