Last year for Christmas, all that our oldest son wanted was to see Gilbert, our “Elf on the shelf” fly. We asked Santa if he could please take a picture before Gilbert left to go back to the North Pole. Guess what… he did! The boys were so excited!
Now, I can’t share how I know this information, as wondering eyes may happen upon this, but Santa used a few materials to help him capture this moment.
Materials that Santa used:
- floss (just as a safety backup, of course!)
- camera
- Tape (again, back-up) 😉
- Ceiling Fan
- Maybe a little photo shop or PicMonkey.com to edit things to make Gilbert look perfect! 🙂
Our picture was laying on our table when we came downstairs on Christmas morning with a note from Gilbert that said:
“Thank you for letting me spend the holidays with you! I have had a great time and I will miss you! Here is a picture of me, flying off to the North Pole, where I will wait until next year to see you guys again. Merry Christmas and keep up the great work of spreading peace and joy. Be wonderful while I am away! Happy Birthday, Jesus!”
This was their FAVORITE Christmas gift (yes, it beat all of the other ones!) – they talk about it every year and are hoping for a new one this year, too! I’m pretty sure that Santa & Gilbert can manage that one again.
What a fun idea! A flying elf would certainly leave an impression in my mind too!
Oh yes- our boys LOVED it!!
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!
My son asked Santa for a picture of his elf flying too! This is brilliant! Thanks for the share.
Oh no way! 🙂 haha!! I’m glad it will be helpful. This year he wants a video of it…. hmmm….
Can you post directions on you made your elf fly in order to catch it on camera? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you
Floss 😉

Parents help out 😉
sorry I just got the elf and I wasent sure
🙂
Cant be topped !!
I love most of all that Gilbert made sure to wish Jesus a Happy Birthday and remind your children what it’s really all about! We have one picture of our grandchildren’s “Friendsly” flying in a couple years ago and last year when I took a picture from the same position in their yard, our silly granddaughter thought it was the same picture as the year before! Keep on spreading the Love of Jesus!
