Last week, I saw an e-mail in my inbox that said this  “I feel so discouraged by how little time I have to do what matters.  I worry that everyone else is doing so much more than me.”    I completely understood, because I think that we all feel this way, at one point or another, but why do we care what others think… and why do others care what we are doing?  Mom shaming has become a hot topic and I can see why it needs to stop.

I wrote back to say “YOU ARE ENOUGH.  YOU ARE DOING GREAT.  If you are taking the time to write to me and to look up ways to do better, you are already doing a great job.  You are trying to be BETTER and we can’t do any more than that.  If you are thinking about your child, you are doing it right.  You are a wonderful mother and you need to know that for you… don’t let anyone else determine it.”

My husband told me something similar one time.  I was worried about something and he said “Just the fact that you are worried about it, lets me know that you are going to be great at it, because you wouldn’t worry about something you didn’t care about.”   It made a difference in how I think about things.

To be honest… it wasn’t just this mom and her email.  It is most moms that feel discouraged by at least one of these areas:

1. They don’t feel like they have enough time to do what matters.
2. The budget is tight and there’s not enough money to go around.
3. The lack of peace and organization in their home.
4. Amidst all that, they find it hard to take good care of themselves.

That is why I love being a mother that can help other moms.   I think it is one of the best things that we can do- to help each other.  I keep hearing about “mom shaming” and I couldn’t agree more that it needs to stop.  So what if we all need a little help sometimes.  We are human, after all.   We can’t be everything all at once.   We all have our own thoughts and minds and decisions.

When I wrote my post on putting the kids to bed at 7:00, I was shocked at the (mean) comments that I received.  I was even more shocked at the enormous amount of support that it brought.♥

When I wrote about “Why I still carry my kids”, I was disappointed to have a few (rude) comments, but so overwhelmed by the huge amount support by most of the readers.  It told me that while there are a few people out there willing to ‘shame’ others to make themselves feel better, there are a lot more people willing to encourage others.

That is because MOST moms can understand and appreciate that we all do what works for our family… that it doesn’t matter if it works for someone else’s family as long as it works for our own, because we are each our own person.

So, I want to tell you not to worry about what anyone else is doing.  Be the best YOU that You can be.

As my grandma used to say “Different Strokes for different folks”.   Don’t worry about how anyone else thinks about you.  Do what is best for you.  Strive to be the best mother, wife, friend, homemaker, etc… that you can be because YOU want to be it.   You are amazing at being you.

As Dr. Seuss once said…
