This crockpot mashed potatoes recipe is a favorite in our house. Mashed potatoes (especially easy-to-make slow-cooker mashed potatoes) make any family dinner complete. They pair perfectly with green bean casserole with bacon or even grilled corn on the cob.

A bunch of food on a plate, with Potato and Slow cooker

I love finding a good slow-cooker recipe.  These mashed potatoes are too easy not to make often.  They taste as great as they look.

They are loaded with butter, cheese, and garlic —and they can stand alone without any gravy!

It’s not easy to cook different things at once in the oven or on the stove, so I use my slow cooker as much as I can for our meals (like when I make Grandma’s Crockpot Tuscan Beef Stew.)

These slow-cooker mashed potatoes are just one of the many things I make in the slow cooker. They’re so easy to make this way and turn out great!

How to Make Slow-Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients You Need

  • 5 Pounds Russet Potatoes
  • 1 Small Onion, Diced
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1 TBSP Garlic, Minced
  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream
  • 8 Ounces of Cream Cheese

A bowl of Mashed Potatoes with butter on top.

Instructions for slow-cooked mashed potatoes:

Cook the diced potatoes in a slow cooker on low, along with the onion, chicken broth, and minced garlic.  Cook for about 6 hours; the potatoes will absorb some of the chicken stock.

Add the sour cream, cream cheese, and butter into the slow cooker with the potatoes. Using an electric mixer, whip the potatoes until they’re smooth. Enjoy!
