I have to share this READbox with you because it is the cutest idea I’ve seen in a long time!   My friend, Carrie, is a teacher at a wonderful private school near our home, Davidson Day.  I know Carrie because she is one of the trainers at the gym that I belong to (Burn Boot Camp) – not only is she a great trainer, but she is one of the NICEST people that I have ever met.

Anyway- she had this on her door and I asked her if I could post it on here.  Isn’t it the most fun idea?   Instead of a REDbox, she has a READbox… all books are free.

This is a great idea, because in my classroom, when I taught, I had book baskets on each table in my room.  The kids would have a basket for a full week and they could read as much as they wanted.  At the end of each week, when they left on Friday, I would rotate the book baskets.  Once each of the students had had a chance to go through all of the books in each basket, I swapped them out for different books.  (I would get them from the library).   It was a fun way to give them new books that they wouldn’t have necessarily picked up on their own (like non-fiction history books for kids).  Most students found many new interests, which was a goal of mine, so it was a win-win.

Here are some other fun door ideas that I found today on Pinterest:
