Are you getting ready for your kids to go back to school?  Today we’re sharing our favorite first day of school tradition.  It starts with these first days of school posters, a special lunch box surprise, and an after-school treat to welcome them home from their first day of school.

You’re welcome to download & print these posters for your kids on their first day of school. These printables are perfect for your child to complete & hold for a picture on their first day. If your child isn’t up for taking a picture, you can always add the completed sheet to their school memory book.

You’ll find two versions (blue and pink).  If you’d rather save the ink, you can change your printer settings to print them in black & white.  Your child can use these for Preschool through 6th grade on the first day of school.

SCHOOL POSTERS ON CHALKBOARD

On top of taking their first day of school pictures with these posters, I also like to pack them a fun lunch for that first day!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL Lunch

On the first day of school, I try to pack a few of their favorite things.  I want their lunches to be filling, nutritious, and filled with foods that they look forward to eating; something that they are excited about opening and eating.  I can remember lunchtime when I was in school.  I couldn’t wait to see what my mom had packed me that day. 

The Back-to-School season is the time of year when we stock up on all of the essentials- food, home products, personal care items, etc.   It’s just a good time to refill everything and get back into the swing of things.  Plus, you can find some great deals if you know where to shop!

SCHOOL POSTERS ON CHALKBOARD

Publix, for example, is running its Back to School promotions from 7/31 to 8/13.  I went this week and picked up a pack of Pirate’s Booty Aged White Cheddar Rice & Corn Puffs for $5.79 and Second Nature Medley 10–14 oz bags for $4.99.

I stocked up on Quaker Chewy Bars Value Packs while they were 2 for $7, too.  The kids love these!

You can find shelf signs located throughout the store which highlight the savings during the promotion going on through 8/13.  Pick up Publix’s 7/31 Extra Savings flyer which will include the “Back to School” theme page when you are in the store. You’ll find a complete list of product savings.

Remember – if you don’t see the Extra Savings flyer in the kiosk at the store’s entrance, just head to customer service and ask for a flyer.  They’re always helpful!

After the first day of school

My favorite part of the school day is hearing all about it when they get home.  We always have a frozen treat on the first day, too.

Sometimes we’ll go out for ice cream, sometimes we’ll make snow cones at home, but this year we bought them each their own Sundae to eat after the first day of school.  We can talk about school while they eat their Blue Bunny Load’d Sundaes – They are $.75 off any 8.5 oz. containers during the Back to School promotion at Publix.

Oh- and if you forget to take their pictures with their First Day of School posters, just snap a picture after school.

Enjoy this back-to-school time.   New friends, new subjects, and new ideas!
