We have two Christmas Trees… and I love it!

It was strange for me to think about having two trees, at first, but now that I do, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The first tree is our tree that you see through the front door.  This one is the Tree for Me, because it feels so elegant and ‘grown-up’.  It is the tree that you see when you walk into our house.  It is the tree that holds only red and gold ornaments (and the occasional special bulb that we get).

Our second tree is our ‘family’ tree. It is where we have Christmas mornings, where we keep our presents and where we put all of our homemade ornaments, our ‘baby’s first’ ornaments and any of the ornaments that we get on a yearly basis.

Our bigger tree came to us by accident.  Mickey’s parents always had a 9 foot tree in their house, but once Mickey and his brother moved out, they didn’t need it anymore.  They offered it to us.  (Mickey said no, at first, because it is so bulky, but I jumped at the opportunity to have this tree.  It’s beautiful!)   I had to think about how to decorate it, because we didn’t have enough to use on both trees.

This year was easy.  I went to the At Home and looked through the At Home Christmas Decor and bought a bunch of decor, because they have decorations for every room.  The part that I loved was the huge assortment of red and gold ornaments (they have huge selection- seriously!  Look at just the selection of red ornaments that I found… and at their everyday low prices!)

Once I was finished buying everything that I needed, I went home and started decorating.

The best part is that most of the bulbs on this tree are NOT glass, so we don’t have to worry about the kids breaking any.

Here is the finished room (I use the red, green & gold decorations on the banister, too).

An entrance way with a Christmas tree and decorations.

PS- just for fun, here are a few pictures of the “in progress” pictures.   hahaha!  Notice a trend of ornaments being placed in a certain spot?

And a complete side note from the tree – but here is a sneak peek at our dining room (also decorated with At Home decorations)

  1. I love the idea of 2 trees.
We have so many homemade ornaments, that I love, but I would love to have one tree that just had lights or maybe a theme of ornaments like you have.

pS My kids love to put all the ornaments in one spot, too.
