I just wanted to come in to give you this cleaning schedule for the week, since the weather has been nice & people are getting outside a little more. These jobs should take around 30 minutes or less, so you’ll still have plenty of time to head outdoors or spend time doing something fun!
TIP: Set your timer for 30 minutes and clean as much as you can in that time. Race the timer. This will make the job feel a whole lot easier to manage.
MONDAY: Clean your kitchen!
Clean out the sink first, then the countertops, then start doing the cabinets or drawers.
TUESDAY: Clean your living room!
Clean the fans and blinds/shutters today. Pick up any toys on the floor and dust the furniture in that room.
Cleaning the shutters is not a job that I enjoy, but it needs to be done every so often… so do it this week and get it out of the way.
WEDNESDAY: Clean the bathrooms!
To make this job fly by, try it this way.
1. Put the toilet cleaner into every single toilet in your house.
2. Now while the toilet cleaner is sitting, go through and clean all of the vanities and sinks.
3. Wipe down the toilet seats, rim, etc…
4. When you finish that, go back and scrub the inside of the toilets. (The cleaner will have sat for a while.)
5. If you have time in that 30 minutes, go ahead and clean the shower/bath or the floors & mirrors. (the mirrors will make a big impact on how clean the bathroom looks)
THURSDAY: Straighten up the bedrooms!
Open the curtains (a dark room just doesn’t look as clean), change the sheets, clean the lampshades, clean off dressers.
Just these few things will be a dramatic change in how the room looks and feels.
FRIDAY: Choose one other room in your house: either the dining room or your office
Start with the flat surfaces (tables, desks) then move to the floors (pick up anything on the floor and put it away). Clean any fans that you have and any shutters or blinds. The dirt just builds up there! Try to clean the windows in this last room if you have time.
SATURDAY: The car or garage.
I picked this one today because your family can be outside while you are getting some cleaning done.
Better yet, have everyone help you put things where it belongs. Things tend to migrate to the garage & car, so use this opportunity to have the family help put everything back where it goes.
SUNDAY: rest. 🙂
Remember – you can’t organize clutter, so just get rid of it (You’ll feel better!).
PS- if you want to REALLY declutter, join me in the declutter challenge. We will be walking through each room of the house in a very detailed way, getting rid of clutter & organizing it. I finish up each room with a video tour of my own house.
