Last weekend, Beau asked me if we could go ‘on the lake’.   I would say that they ask this at least once a week and for one main reason: when we are on the lake, nothing else matters.  Today, I am partnering with Sharpie because like the memories that we give to our children, these markers stand up to the test of time (& the elements!)

The lake is something that we love, but not because it is fun or we love to play… It’s for what we DON’T have when we are on the lake:

We don’t have a TV on the lake.
We don’t have wifi on the lake.
We don’t have neighbors on the lake.
We don’t have chores on the lake.
We don’t have errands on the lake.

It’s isn’t so much the ‘lake’ as it is just taking that day to do nothing but be together.  During those 5 hours, we are just enjoying each other’s company.

So, every Sunday we go to my parents’ house. My brother, Tim and his wife Jill meet us there with their kids Dylan & Lia.   Together, we just all spend time together. We go boating for an hour or so before making our way to a little island where the kids play.   They dig, they make forts, they find treasures, they play…

Before we head out, we gather up a few things to take.

We (always) mark our things with these Sharpie Extreme Markers because their shovels are always getting mixed up and sometimes we even leave things there.  Sharpie Extreme permanent markers have high-contrast ink that resists fading when exposed to harsh UV rays, rain, snow, and even mud or dirt (yep.. that’s pretty much what our boys love!).  These markers are great for outdoor gear, sports equipment, backpacks and water bottles & more because the Sharpie Extreme bold colors can be used on most surfaces (plastic, glass, wood, etc…)

We label our bags, snack containers & water bottles to keep things organized.   We do the same thing with their balls and other toys, like shovels:

It lasts & lasts… it just never seems to fade no matter how many fun outdoor adventures we go on:

The boys take the Sharpie Extreme Markers onto the island with us because you just never know when you will find a treasure (like a golf ball) 😉  These markers just last…

We use the shovels to find treasures buried deep…

And of course, we have a bucket for all of those empty shells that we find (ps- notice that the name on teh shovel is still there… that’s another reason that we love these Sharpie Extreme Markers.  They literally don’t wear off no matter how long we are in the water or digging in the sand):

Because at the end of the day, your time is the biggest treasure.  Their memories are their biggest treasure and together you have the ability to give them both: time & memories… because while time fades away, memories last a lifetime. 😉
