3:30… I hear the bus coming down the road. I run out to greet three hungry boys, eager to tell me all about their day and to have a snack while doing just that. I can remember coming home from a long day of school, hungry for a snack, too.

The issue that we run into:
1- I don’t want to give them too much food or they won’t be hungry for dinner.
2- I don’t want to give them unhealthy snacks.
3- I usually need a quick snack because our kids play sports & they don’t have much time before we have to leave for practice.

Here’s what I do:

1- Keep healthy snacks ready in the refrigerator. Our kids love to come home & grab a Danimals Smoothie or low-fat yogurt pouch.

Plus, they are ALWAYS looking for the Golden Bongo in the box.

If you are new to hearing about the Golden Bongo, it is part of a great contest that Dannon and Fuel Up to Play 60 have going on right now.
You look for the Golden Bongo, like on the box below:

Fuel Up to Play 60 is the nation’s largest in-school wellness program and Dannon Danimals (the leading yogurt brand for kids) partnered to inspire kids to pick healthy snacks to fuel their bodies & get active for an hour a day (at least!)

You can join the fun by searching for one of the five Golden Danimals Bongos in their smoothies or squeezables, from now until October 31. Both are low-fat yogurts & if you win, you get a field day for the ENTIRE SCHOOL with NFL players. Our kids have been searching like crazy! haha!! (Ps- the school gets $6,000, too!)

Last year, Danimals & Fuel Up to Play 60 gave $5,000 grants to six schools. You can find more info at FUELUPTOPLAY60.COM. Follow Fuel Up to Play 60 on FACEBOOK, TWITTER and INSTAGRAM and Danimals on FACEBOOK to keep up with the action!

3- Add a new twist to cookies by using APPLES.

4) Kids will love creating BANANA SPLIT BITES.

5) Every kid will love a homemade POPSICLE.

After-school snacks can be a great way to fuel your kid’s afternoon adventures! Offering healthy snacks after a long day at school can be fun and delicious with these options. 🙂
