When my husband proposed to me, the summer going into our junior year of college, he gave me the most beautiful ring.   It was just what I wanted!   Well, a few months passed and it had lost its shine & sparkle.

One night when I was at his parent’s house, his Mom gave me this tip on how to clean my ring and I have done this ever since.  It makes it look brand new again!   If you want to know how to make your diamond ring sparkle – try this! how to make your diamond ring sparkle

Here is the before, to give you an idea:

  before

What you need: Toothbrush (that you aren’t using) – you can even use an old one for this. Soap (any kind of hand soap will work) Toothpaste (I try to use the paste & not the gel)

what you need

What you need to do: Now just get your ring wet and get your toothbrush wet. Apply a pea-size drop of toothpaste to your toothbrush Squirt some hand soap right on top of it. Get the whole thing wet again. Start scrubbing your ring, gently, but with enough pressure to clean it. Clean all around it (even under the diamond)

That’s it.  Rinse it very well.  You have just cleaned your ring!   You can do this for any of your rings and they will shine & sparkle again!

  1. Hi Becky
Just wanted to let you know I mentioned this on my blog today, and provided a link to this article. Thanks for the great idea!

  2. Unfortunately using ay kind of brush , especially a tooth brush causes small scratches to your diamond thereby reducing it’s value…significantly. that’s why jewelers always use a soaking cleaner…NEVER brush.

  3. Becky, I love your blog. Thank you. When I want to clean my diamond ring, I put it into one of those sweet little see-through fabric gift bags. It goes into one of those dishwasher baskets for small parts with the lid that closes. Run the cycle as usual when you are washing dishes. Your ring will come out sparkly clean! If a loose stone comes off, it isn’t lost. It is in the bag. Married 51 years.
