Every day, I have the choice… do I spend my ‘free time’ cleaning or playing? I try to find ways to clean without taking too much time. Every moment you save means more precious time with your family. Keeping your home smelling great and germ-free doesn’t have to be a multi-step process. For this reason, I have partnered with Clorox to introduce Clorox® Scentiva™ products. They clean, disinfect and deodorize. With one less task on the to-do list, the next question you’ll need to answer is: How do I spend all the extra time I saved?
Our family LOVES to play cake wars, so I wanted to show you how to play today. It is a fun family activity. It does get messy, but like I said, Clorox® Scentiva™ is the key there. 🙂
Here’s how it works. You are the judge. Your kids are the contestants.
Start by cleaning and disinfecting the surface.
Step 1: Bake cupcakes.
We like to use our big flower pan to make big cupcakes.
Step 2: Set your table
Set the table with everything that you have at home to decorate. Candy, icing, chocolate, colored icing (we just dye our own) Set it out. I let each of the kids have a spoon and they use the back of the spoon to put the icing on (it makes it easier than a knife).
Step 3: Everyone picks a cupcake and the game is on!
They just start decorating. The goal is to come up with the most creative cupcake!
Step 4: Everyone picks what they want to put on it.
Remind them that they are being judged on creativity. 🙂
Step 5: Presentation.
Each child presents the cupcake to you, talking about how they made it, why they chose the colors & toppings.
They like to put them all side-by-side and let us walk by and look at them:
The kids have SO much fun with it!
When you are finished, grab your Clorox® Scentiva™ and clean up. It won’t take long.
These smell SO good, so you’ll be happy that you used it. It does the cleaning, disinfecting and deodorizing all at the same time, so it saves time. Plus, it helps kill harmful bacteria and viruses, which I don’t want with four kids! Now you can clean, disinfect and deodorize all in one step, saving you time to tackle the more important things in life. 🙂
You won’t have to choose between products that clean well & products that smell good anymore- Clorox® Scentiva™ does both.
So… Clorox & I wanted to offer you something to help you spend LESS time on cleaning and MORE time with your family! 🙂
DO YOU WANT TO WIN??? HERE IS YOUR CHANCE!
ONE LUCKY WINNER WILL WIN!
We are sending you a Baking Kit and this adorable Doughnut-making kit, so you can do Cake Wars & Doughnut Wars with your family. I am also sending you Clorox® Scentiva™ products AND a $100 gift card, so you can buy everything that you need to have your very own Family Cake Wars!
Leave a comment and tell me what YOUR favorite family activity would be… What would you do with your extra time?
Rules: Shipping to US only. We will be picking a winner using Random.org. I will e-mail the winner within 10 days. Thank you!

Cake wars or donut wars sounds like a fun idea! My boys love to help me cook and I am glad that they take interest in it. They love cracking eggs, mixing things up, and their favorote part is eating the finished product with the pride of knowing they made it! When we do have extra time after getting the necessary work done, we love to play outside, or play a family board game like sorry, connect four, or pie face. I hope to add more complicated games as they grow older, but these are exciting and can keep their attention for now at ages 6, 4, and 2, (and we now have one on the way!). Thanks for posting!

My girls would love to play cake wars! It would be cute for a party, too. We like to play outside, read books, watch movies, listen to records, and do craft projects together (some of these are just the girls and me, some are the whole family, some are the girls and their daddy).

Currently the fun activity is playing restaurant with what ever is for dinner. My daughters make a menu (with prices of course) , we order, they serve, add up the bill and all. They seem to love it and they are doing Math! (Don’the tell them) lol. We are a very busy family so I try to just play as much as possible along with whatever we may be doing. The cupcake wars is such a good idea, thanks for posting!

We’ve done this for a birthday party! So fun … the kids and adults all had a great time. We will definitely do it again.

We’ve done cupcake wars at our house -it’s great for kid parties! One Halloween we added candy corn, Oreo crumbles & gummy worms for the scare factor & yes, you definitely need a good clean up afterwards! As a family of artists, we also have painting sessions & polymer clay time at the kitchen table too! It’s good to have a surface you can just wipe down afterwards lol!
Judith says
We have family night every week. Make homemade pizza (the kids help so that can get messy!) Watch a movie. Have a dance party to the ending credit songs. Then play board games until bed time. Any extra time would be more time for board games! Family cake wars sound like so much fun. Definitely going to have to give it a try!

We love baking banana muffins. I use oat flour, bananas, apple sauce as the main ingredients. The kids get to grind the rolled oats in the coffee grinder, mash bananas with their hands, and scoop the applesauce in the measuring cup. My twins are 3 & the oldest is 5 so there is quite a mess after baking. Thank you for this giveaway!!
Chrysti says
We would probably play outside more often!

Love the cake wars idea… and my kids would love the sugar! With extra time we might turn on the wii Kids Dance and have dance party time… or for outside time, we like to make driveway sidewalk chalk scenes that the kids can use to pose for pictures – like an underwater scene or outer space.

Love this activity and fast ideas for cleaning up fast for more family time! We just moved so we are definitely trying to find a balance between unpacking/cleaning and fun time. We love dance parties, nerf battles , bike rides and board games. We would totally do more crafts and baking with our extra time together because always feel like it’s adding more cleanup but they looooove it!

Currently my kids ( ages 5,6 & 8) favorite thing to play is something similar.. The play Food war and they judge my cooking but they like to pretend it’s something else.. I’m not too sure if it’s a good thing or a bad thing. lol but I do get a kick out of telling them I used funky ingredients.
With all the extra time I would have I would grab our tub of chalk and head outside, We love being out doors!
Ashleigh Booth says
The most fun activity we do as a family is play hide and seek! Mom and daddy hide while our three little ones find us, them they hide and we find them! (They find it funny to hide where they found us! 😂) We also make it a point to sit around the kitchen table for dinner with no distractions, every night, fajita nights are their favorite!! Everybody gets to make their own plate while sitting down, kind of like a buffet!
Melissa says
This is such a great idea! Thanks!! In our “free” time we like to play sports, be outside and hang out as a family. All my kids (13,9,7) either bake or are big helpers in the kitchen. We will have to try this Cake War soon!
Sheree says
Such a neat idea! I’m sure my littles would enjoy this but we’d love to make homemade pizza and breaking much anything that has to do with cooking and food. Haha

Jenn (One Imperfect Mom) says
We live next to a park, so we love to go and get dirty at the playground (and our toddler loves to wash his hands afterwards. Apparently bubbles are hilarious- we use foaming hand soap for the fun factor and to prevent globs of sticky soap when he wants to do it by himself).
Thanks for hosting this giveaway!
