Are a beginning or end of the year mom?

Its funny that during the year we go through phrases.  We start the year with a bang, ready for everything and anything!   We are ready to take the school year by the horns and run with it…. then life happens again.  Sports, homework, nice weather in the spring (which means more playtime outside!) and that is when we turn into an ‘end of the year mom’

Hi there!

I’m Becky, a former elementary school teacher turned certified child development therapist and blogger. I work at home with my husband and together we are raising (and partially homeschooling) our four children in the Carolinas. I love diet coke, ice cream, and spending time with my family.

  1. Probably a combination of both. I have older and younger kids, so I choose to pick my battles on some of it. Backpack checks can be a mixture of fear and anticipation for me; I love seeing what the kids are working on, but fear the week old lunch containers they managed to remember from their locker. Backpack smell is always a bit funky too!

  2. I’m both also. Sometimes the “paired down” end of the year things seems like it is how it should be as I try to do too much and stress myself out. Ultimately, I’m a happier mom at the end of the year and in so doing, so are the kiddos. Loosening the reins a little and just “being” is liberating.
