Although it can be a lot of fun to experiment with new recipes that really push the envelope, there are also plenty of times when there’s nothing better than enjoying a tried and true Comfort Food Recipes with your family.

Whenever you’re in the mood for a meal that’s guaranteed to fill everyone up and put a smile on their faces, here are five recipes that won’t ever let you down:

Speedy Shepherd’s Pie

This great recipe comes directly from Sargento. Not only do I like that it can be fully prepared and cooked in under an hour, but it also only has eight ingredients. Those ingredients are 1 lb. ground beef or turkey, 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen mixed vegetables (thawed), 1 jar (12 oz.) beef gravy, 1 tsp. dried thyme leaves, 2 cups (8 oz.) Sargento Off the Block Fine Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese (divided), and 2-1/2 cups (1-1/2 lbs.) refrigerated garlic mashed potatoes or leftover mashed potatoes.

Start by putting the onion in a skillet and browning the meat in it. Pour off the drippings, then add the thyme, gravy and vegetables. Cook and stir for about four minutes, then remove from the heat and stir in a cup of cheese. Spoon this mix into either a quiche dish or 10-inch deep dish pie plate. Add the potatoes and 3/4 cup of cheese over the meat. Then bake on 375 for 25 minutes. Sprinkle on the rest of the cheese, put back in the oven for 5 minutes, and then get ready to serve pure deliciousness!

Fast Chicken Pot Pie

Just 10 minutes to prep and 30 minutes to cook. You’ll need a 1/2 cup frozen mixed diced vegetables, 1 can cream of chicken soup (undiluted), 1 can cream of mushroom soup (undiluted), 1/2 cup diced celery, 1/2 medium onion (chopped), freshly ground black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon poultry seasoning, and 4 to 5 boneless & skinless chicken breasts. You can also get warm biscuits to serve the pot pie over.

Once you sprinkle the chicken with pepper and the seasoning, put it in a heavy and deep skillet. Add the celery and onion, then put enough water to reach the top of the chicken. Slowly bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat so the chicken can simmer for around 15 minutes. Once it’s done, remove and cut it up into cubes. You can then put the cubes back in the skillet, along with the remaining ingredients. Cook everything for approximately another 15 minutes, then you’ll be ready to serve it over the biscuits.

Three Meat Chili

Since chili is one of those things that everyone loves, I thought it would be fun to share a slight variation on this classic favorite. As you can see from the full recipe and list of ingredients, it contains sausage, pork and beef. Another thing I really like about this recipe is the fact that it utilizes beer for extra flavor. While it does contain quite a few ingredients, it only takes thirty minutes to prep. Then once you have everything going in the stockpot, it will take less than three hours to for it all to cook.

Crockpot Mac & Cheese

If your family is in the mood for truly cheesy macaroni, it’s hard to beat five hours in the crockpot on low. This recipe call for 8 ounces of cooked and drained elbow macaroni, 1-1/2 cups milk, 2 eggs, 1 12 ounce can of evaporated milk, 4 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1 teaspoon salt. Once you cook the macaroni, all you have to do is combine everything in a crockpot. It’s usually best to add 3 cups of cheese to the main mix, and then sprinkle the last cup on top before you start the five hours of letting it cook.

As someone who has tried plenty of different chicken noodle soup recipes, I can confidently say that the one published by A Healthy Life for Me is by far the best I have ever tasted!
