You’ve seen me write about Ocala/Marion County in the past, because of its authentic Florida charm.   It has everything from trail rides on horseback, great dining and shopping to golf, and countless outdoor activities.

Ocala/Marion County Activities offer a ton of crystal clear springs with swimming holes for everyone to cool off in (Alexander Springs, Juniper Springs, Salt Springs … just to name a few), and during the winter it’s no different. It’s like being in a summer camp movie!  You can snorkel, canoe, kayak, fish and boat in the various lakes and rivers  in the county, too (and stay for a campout).  Or, you can stay in one of the rustic cabins, bed & breakfasts, top hotels or vacation rentals in the area. Ocala/Marion County Lodging has so many options.

Outdoor fun does not stop in the winter months, if anything the weather is even more perfect!

Great Things to do as a Family

You can take a tram tour of the longleaf pine forest that teaches the kids about land management practices and how we care for our natural resources.  Plus, you might see white-tailed deer, Gopher Tortoise, Sherman’s fox squirrel, or wild turkey.

Afterward, be sure to stay up so you and your family can enjoy Florida nights, maybe even make s’mores together.

You can also find great Famer’s Markets in Ocala/Marion like Farmstead Weekend – this is a Farmers’ Market held every Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Crones’ Cradle Conserve.    I love that you can tour a working herb & vegetable garden.  They have freshly picked vegetables, jellies, honey, jam, pickles & more… right from the farm.

All in all, you’ll find so much to do with Florida Travel It’s a great way to escape the cold and enjoy Florida in the winter. I promise you will love it!
