Beep beep beep.  The sound of the alarm going off.   I used to dread this time… that sound… the stress of the mornings and getting four kids ready for school and onto the bus in the hour that time gave us.  We were stressed and we were rushed.   They left the house in a hurry and the house reflected it.   I decided it was time to wake up earlier… so I went from night owl to early bird.

The difference now is that by the time the kids get up, I have been up for a few hours and I have ENERGY and PATIENCE to get our movings off on the right food. It is like gaining hours in the day. I go to bed earlier, yes, but I wake up earlier and my mornings run much smoother (and when my morning runs smoothly, so does my family’s morning.)

My old schedule kept me up until 1:00 or 2:00 am (I work on my blog after the kids are in bed).   I would wake up in the mornings at 7:00, with the kids, and get everything ready in the next hour, drop them off at school, go to the gym and then run errands.  By the time that I was done, it was time for preschool pickup.

Now my schedule looks like this:
5:00 wake up, turn on the coffee pot, get ready to go.
5:15 leave for the gym, work out for 45 minutes.
6:30 Arrive home (Mickey is up by now)Sit down for ten minutes to talk (ahh… peace and quiet).
Get a quick shower, eat a protein bar (usually), get ready before I get the kids up.

6:40 Make breakfast for the kids.
breakfast
7:00 wake everyone up, make their beds as they get out of bed.
8:00 Put my coffee (new cup) in a Dixie® To Go and get everyone into the car.  These cups are awesome- it’s no effort, no clean up, no worries. More time to focus on things that matter.
8:30 Do school dropoffs.
9:00 work for a few hours, until preschool pickup time.

My  day continues on, but just getting a jump start on my day is the biggest win for me!  It sets us up for a  great day!

I  hope that helped!

  1. Oh my dear sweet friend!!! I too did this… and I love it… I’m up by 4:30 most everyday and done with most life and client things by lunch!!! I have the rest of the day to blog and work on what I need or what to do 🙂 So cool to see into your new schedule 🙂

  2. I am trying to switch my schedule around too and it is HARD, but I feel like I am a better mom when I wake up before my daughter does. Maybe it’s because I’m not cranky still 😉

…and YES on the heat up you coffee ten times. I need to get some of these cups!
