Supermom Not Feeling So Super?  These Tips for tired moms are great!   You won’t feel like a worn-out mom anymore.  I’m excited that I’ve partnered with Hyland’s Good Morning so I can share them with you!

As moms, we have so much going on every single day: school, sports, friend’s houses, packing lunches, making dinner, cleaning the house, paying bills, talking to teachers, etc…  If you are like me, when you get into bed at night, you just lie there… awake… with everything on your mind.   You can’t seem to turn off your endless-to-do list.

This is me:

Any woman who is a mother knows exactly how much your kids rely on you. They see you as “supermom” in a sense.  Feeling tired, or just needing a break is almost impossible. We try to cook, clean, take care of their needs, and play every day.  That’s why we had kids and we love it… when we feel good!  However, I know personally, sometimes I wish I could clone myself!   Sometimes I just feel like… sleeping (shh… don’t tell anyone).

The simple day to day routines can really make you feel drained when it’s all said and done. Even with the help of your husband, there comes a point when your body says “Ok, Mama… lets take a break.”    (Usually for me it comes after several nights of being up working late or after a week-long organizing binge!)

So what’s a supermom to do when she doesn’t feel so super? Now I’m not talking about if you’re dealing with a hundred degree temperature and the chills (which ultimately means you have some sort of virus). What I’m referring to are instances where you simply feel tired from not getting enough sleep.

While there is likely some form of medication for everything I’ve described, I personally like to rely on nature first to beat these before they start, or to assist nature just a bit.  For this reason, I rely on the assistance of a few more natural things…

Tips for the tired mom:

1- More WATER!
Drinking more water is a great way to bump up your energy levels!

2- Hyland’s Good Morning
Ok, this was a new one for me and I LOVE it!   It is a natural, caffeine-free alertness aid, so it just helps you to feel better after a normal night sleepless night.  It helps with mental & emotional feelings that come with being tired.

Hylands good morning
I used to be a diet coke drinker and while I still drink one a day, I have switched to coffee for my morning drink.  My new routine is… water first thing in the morning (I just force myself to drink a glass) and a Hyland’s Good Morning pill, then I eat a protein bar & drink a cup of coffee (with vanilla fat-free sweetener). 😉

It helps to relieve the irritability & just ‘tired fog’ that you feel after not getting enough sleep. Since it isn’t habit forming, I just picked up a box at Walgreens & tried it.  It gave me simple energy so I could take on the day with a fresh start.

ps- completely off topic, but Mickey bought me these beautiful flowers the other day for my birthday.  They are my absolute favorite!  I had to include them for this picture of my “morning essentials” – lol.  Flowers give me another pick-me-up… so fresh & beautiful & full of positivity (like I am after I take the other things in the picture. lol!)

hylands 2I found a $1 off coupon for Hyland’s Good Morning here.  It expires on 1/2/17.

3- More Protein.
We eat protein bars or have egg-white omelets in the morning for breakfast.  It was hard to get used to eating such a big breakfast (I’d rather just have 1/2 of a granola bar, to be honest, but we are working on a bigger breakfast), but I do feel better for the rest of the day.

4- Vitamins.
You should be taking some sort of vitamins if you aren’t already.

5- A shower.
I feel revitalized after I have taken a shower.  Maybe it is because it is 10 minutes to myself or maybe it’s because I love the smell of the shampoo that I buy, but nonetheless, it helps.

6-  Grab a rolling pin.
Lie on your back and put a rolling pin under your legs.  Roll back & forth on it & it gives you a little at-home massage.  (I heard this tip when I was taking a class to teach kickboxing, years ago, at our local gym)

Oh!  And don’t forget extra SLEEP when you can sneak it in!  Easier said than done, right?!

Hi there!

  1. Great suggestions! It’s amazing to me how much water and protein help. I can’t do traditional vitamin pills, but I have my “favorite foods” that tend to help a lot, and sometimes I can tolerate fortified cereal.
Anyway, one more suggestion is to reduce chemicals in the home: get rid of fabric softener, scented candles, chemical air “fresheners” and perfumes (use essential oils instead 🙂 ), lotions (use coconut oil instead), cleaners (use vinegar, lemon juice etc. instead), and herbicides. I actually do not know if this will help everyone with energy, but the more I learn about these chemicals, the more I think getting rid of them really could help everybody have more energy and health. I wish I had the money to do a scientific study on this!!! 🙂 The chemicals are apparently hard on the body, even if one does not notice symptoms. Maybe “lightening the load” will help some people feel better! 🙂

    1. Great tips!! Thanks, Christina! (And I TOTALLY agree about lightening their load!) 🙂

  2. Love these tips. I recently started a blog and have 3 kids so I have been seeing some late nights and early mornings lately. I need to remember to implement these to keep me going. Thanks for the post!
