This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Netflix for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

With Thanksgiving dinner just around the bend, I knew that I had to create a great after-dinner drink for my large family (about 25 of us!)  I couldn’t resist creating a recipe inspired by a Netflix show that we love (by the way, we love just about everything about Netflix!  We have had a subscription for years – since it first came out).

I don’t drink often, (hardly at all), but once in a while, we do like to have a white russian at night, or if we have friends over.  I was first introduced to these when I had one with a friend, when we were out to eat, and they put ice cream and chocolate syrup in it!   haha!   It was delicious!

Here is a classic White Russian cocktail with a twist ~ it includes orange liqueur and orange zest.  (No ice cream in this one!)

Serves: 1

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 0 minutes

Make-Ahead: This cocktail is best served as soon as it is made.

Ingredients

Ice cubes

1/4 cup Kahlúa

2 tablespoons vodka

1 tablespoon Cointreau

2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

1 navel orange

See my alcohol free version below, too!

(Or you can double the recipe for two… this is what we do when we are in the mood for an Orange White Russian.  I can say that I’m not crazy about a lot of drinks, other than Diet Coke- haha!…  but this one is always delicious.)

A woman pouring liquor into a glass.

Method

  1. Fill a rocks glass halfway with ice cubes. Add the Kahlúa, vodka, and Cointreau and gently stir to blend.
  2. Pour the cream over so that it floats on top of the Kahlúa mixture. Using a fine grater, grate some orange zest on top. Serve immediately.

You can make a virgin Orange White Russian by substituing the Kahlua for chocolate syrup.  Eliminate the vodka & Cointreau.

We like to drink ours when we are watching a movie, after dinner and after the kids have all gone to sleep.   We usually pick a Netflix movie because our family LOVES Netflix.  We have had it for about 5 years now.   Our kids use it as much as we do…  or more.

We love Netflix because we can watch our TV shows and movies anytime and anywhere we want or they want.   Our iphones always have Netflix on because it keeps our kids busy while we are shopping or waiting in the carpool line.

Our kids favorite Netflix shows:
7 year old- Spy Kids
5 year old- Spy kids
3 year old- Mickey Mouse
1 year old- nothing yet. haha!

My husband & I watched Revenge and we are about to start Breaking Bad (I also want to watch Downton Abbey on Netflix)

Netflix is making it easier to bring the family together this Thanksgiving by suggesting TV shows and movies you can watch while the turkey is baking.
Or, if you are like me, you like to put it on while you are cooking.  If I am in the kitchen, chances are that the TV is on with a Netflix show or movie in the living room.  I really don’t like to cook in silence and I can find just about anything to watch to fit my mood.

To stay up to date with the best new shows & movies, I like to: Follow @Netflix and of course Follow Netflix on Pinterest.   OH- and you can Like Netflix on Facebook, too!   They will share specials and great hits with you!
So~ which show/movie on Netflix will be accompanying YOU in the kitchen this holiday season?
