Have you ever heard of a fire alarm and Carbon Monoxide alarm that also plays music?  What about one that works with Alexa or Siri? What about an alarm that sends an alert to your cell phone if there is a fire or CO emergency?   Today I’m going to share it with you. I’m going to show you how you can Interact with your smoke and carbon monoxide alarm daily.

First Alert has created a life safety device called Onelink Safe & Sound that protects what matters the most to us: our family.  The Onelink Safe & Sound alerts you in the event of a fire or carbon monoxide (CO) incident.   It’s also a home speaker with Amazon Alexa built into the alarm.

Did you know that nearly 3,000 Americans die from home fires every year?  It’s scary to think about, and since many of these fatalities could be prevented with proper placement and maintenance of working smoke alarms, as well as prior emergency and escape planning, it is worth sharing with you today.  If this post can save one person… it was worth it.

In our house, we have alarms installed in every room, just like the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) suggests.   The fear of Carbon Monoxide also called “The Silent Killer” is very real. It is a colorless and odorless gas that is impossible to detect without an alarm.   Since it is hard even to diagnose, many people don’t realize that nausea, headache, dizziness, weakness, chest pain or vomiting are a symptom of CO poisoning until it is too late.  In severe poisoning cases, people may suffer long-term neurological disabilities, cardiorespiratory failure or death.

What can you do to prevent these things?

  1. Install the 3-in-1 Onelink Safe & Sound in every room.  Not only is it an intelligent smoke and CO alarm that protects what matters most, but it has a high-end speaker and built-in Alexa Voice Services.   You can now play music with premium sound in every single room, thanks to the natural acoustic backdrop from the ceiling. Plus, it allows hands-free commands with Alexa.  Since Onelink is also Apple Homekit enabled, it can also be controlled via the Apple Home app or by using Siri.

First Alert has been protecting families for over 60 years, and Onelink is just the next step in the right direction.   Onelink Safe & Sound will alert you on your cell phone if there is a smoke or carbon monoxide emergency, no matter where you are.  As a parent, this gives me such peace of mind.

It has exclusive voice and location technology, so it can tell you exactly what type of danger is in the home and exactly where that danger is located.

Will it work with other alarms?

I know this is a question that we had, so I wanted to answer it for you.   Onelink, unlike other smoke and CO alarms in the connected home space, works with many existing, interconnected hardwired alarms in the home.  This means that we could keep the alarms that we already have in the house.

The installation process was easy.   My husband installed them and said that he liked the integrated adapter plug.  It eliminated the need to rewire. We used the app to walk us through the set-up process.

Oh- and it has a customizable night light.  You pick the color and brightness to light the way at night.  The kids thought that was the coolest thing!

It will keep them safe and give you peace of mind.

As a mom of four kids, I want to know that our children are safe at all times.

As our children grow and start to stay home alone, I want to know that I can be informed of anything that would present a danger to our children.  The alert that Onelink will send to my phone is a huge part of why I wanted to install this in our house.  I want to know that no matter where our children are, they are safe. The kids like that it plays their favorite song when they ask… and I’ll admit… I like that part, too!      Overall – I would call this step towards the future a must-have.

  1. What a great way to combine function AND safety. Our carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are just that. One purpose only. The night light , the bluetooth capability and the app are quality features I’ve never seen in carbon monoxide and smoke detectors and I LOVE IT!

  2. This is one area where I feel I’m never doing enough, no matter how much I do! Thank you, this is great advice!
