This week, Mickey and I decided to make the kids a DIY Box Fireplace.  It’s one of our new favorite Christmas hacks…

cardboard box fireplace

Here is what you need to make it (affiliate links to Amazon to get what you need):

6 Cardboard Boxes
Packaging Tape
Brick Covering.

First, tape up each box.
Next, tape two together.  Do this again with two others.   You will have two “towers”.
Now put them together – you are making a  boxy “u” type of shape with your boxes.
Cover it with your brick covering.

To make the fire, Mickey took brown lunch bags and filled them with paper towels.  He cut up a plastic garbage bag and put it on a fan (taped it around the outside) to make them look like flames.  We have a light that changes colors with an app, so he made it red.

The kids have had a BLAST playing Santa & the North Pole!

Ps- you can leave this key out, too.

  1. Hello! I was blogging this fire place and linked it right back to your webpage. I hope it was ok that I used the picture above so people could see what I was talking about. If not, just let me know and I will take down. This is such an awesome idea! Wish I had known how to make one when I was younger. Thank you for sharing!
