This 4 ingredient blueberry dump cake is my Aunt’s favorite (you can use any fruit, but I like it with blueberries).  I hope that you like it, too!

4 ingredient blueberry dump cake

I wanted to share a great recipe with you for a 4 ingredient blueberry dump cake …  (when I say great, I may be UNDER-exaggerating a bit.)

My friend, Kristy, used to make this cake for different things that we would go to together and I have loved it every since.   It is my Aunt’s favorite and I think that it is my favorite, too.

It is the type of cake that you walk by it in the kitchen, take one bite, thinking that is all that you will have… until that bite is gone and you find yourself going back for one more… and one more… until you look and see that you have eaten WAY to much, so you call the kids down to eat some just to make it go away!)

This recipe is my go-to when I need a dessert or any sort of casserole. I have made this for my MOPS group (Mothers of Preschoolers) and I make this when we have friends over for dinner.  It is great served warm or cold.  It is great as is, or a-la-mode.   The recipe is easy…

 Here is what you need:
1 Package of blueberries.  (you can use any fruit, like peaches or raspberries, but I like blueberries)
2 cans of fruit – the same or different (I like to use cherry pie filling or crushed pineapple)
1 package of yellow cake mix (dry)
1/2 stick of butter (melted)  (optional: you can use frozen butter, too – read below on how to use frozen butter without melting it)

Here are the steps to make this oh-so-delicious cake:
1- Combine fruit

A glass pan with cherries on the bottom and someone pouring a small blue bowl of blueberries on top of the cherries.
A glass pan with blueberries and cherries mixed together.

Open the box of yellow cake mix and pour it on top of the fruit.  A glass pan with blueberries and cherries on the bottom and cake mix being poured out of the bag on top of them with a box of cake mix behind the pan.
Gently spread the cake mix over the fruit mixture.  (Do not mix it in with the fruit, just spread it with a spoon).

Take 1/2 stick of butter, melt it, and pour it over the cake.   Or you could just take your cold (frozen) butter and use a vegetable peeler (as my husband does) to peel layers of it to place on this cake- it covers larger areas this way.
