Disney Trip 2020 Tips from an insider

If you are planning a 2020 Disney World vacation, you’ll want to read today’s post.  It was written by a friend – she worked at Disney World for MANY years and she still visits there often, so she has some great insider tips.   She is going to share some of her helpful tips to make your 2020 Disney World Vacation as great as it can be.  Her tips will help you make the best arrangements and have an awesome time.

When can I book my 2020 Disney Trip?

You can book your 2020 Walt Disney World vacation package on June 18, 2019.   The only booking before that date is for 2019.    The date varies from year to year, but packages will open for booking in June. At that point, you will be able to book your Disney World vacation package for any time in 2020, through the end of the year.

You are able to make a room-only reservation 499 days in advance by paying a deposit equal to one night’s stay while your balance will be due the day you check into your resort hotel. In order to book a Walt Disney World vacation package, a $200 deposit is required to book with the remaining balance of your package being due thirty-days prior to your arrival.  This $200 deposit is refundable up to 30 days before your trip.

ps- Disney Cruise Line itineraries for 2020 are also available (we loved our Disney Cruise)!

How do I plan a Disney vacation?

According to My Disney Experience:  ‘The first step in planning your trip is to browse disneyworld.com to discover all that Walt Disney World Resort has to offer: 4 incredible theme parks, 2 great water parks, attractions and entertainment for the whole family plus dozens of hotels, hundreds of restaurants and much more.

Next, shop for a Disney Resort Hotel Package—which includes multi-day theme park tickets and a Resort hotel stay—for the dates of your visit.”  You’ll also need to decide if you want to bring your food, buy from the Disney theme parks when you get there, or pay in advance for a dining plan.   The Walt Disney Company gives you a lot of options.

Where to Stay at Disney World

Just like any other time you go to Disney World, where you stay (and your room type) is totally up to you. However, there will be an added benefit to staying at the:

  • Art of Animation
  • Pop Century
  • Caribbean Beach
  • Or the new DVC resort: The Riviera.

The New Disney Skyliner system will service these hotels and transport guests to Hollywood Studios and Epcot.

POOL CLOSINGS IN 2020:

  • You may want to know that the Hippy Dippy Pool at Pop Century will be under renovations from January until March.
  • From September 2020 to December 2020, the Big Blue Pool at Art of Animation will be closed.

Which Fastpasses should I get for Disney World?

The Best Disney World Rides to Reserve with FastPass+ 1

There will be some new Fastpass options for you during the planning stages of your 2020 Disney World vacation.  There are so many rides that you will want to ride!  Depending on the park: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, etc… you will pick your passes.

  • Flight of Passage is still a regularly long wait time if you choose standby, but it is not nearly as hard to get your Fastpass for the attraction.
  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
  • Rise of the Resistance will be added to your options at Hollywood Studios.
  • Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway when it opens next May.
  • Tron Lightcycle Power Run may even be available before the end of the year, so watch out for the opening date to be released.

Check Dates for Special Events

Whenever you plan to visit Walt Disney World, there are likely to be some special events scheduled. Disney loves to have After Hours Parties on select dates throughout the year.

There are also seasonal parties and Early Morning Magic dates where you can pay to get in the park hours before it opens to ride select rides and enjoy a breakfast buffet.

New Nighttime Show at Epcot

This year marks the last of Illuminations at Epcot. The replacement show will go up immediately following the final performance of Illuminations. The show is called Epcot Forever, but it is only a temporary place filler. The real replacement should debut some time during 2020.

The show will feature a greater use for the updated technology and quite a lot of spectacle.

Epcot 2020

Construction

If you have plans for a 2020 Disney World vacation, you have to consider that there is an unusually high level of construction taking place around the parks. There are big changes in the works at major anniversary dates draw near for the company.

The Star Wars Hotel is being built in connection to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.

Epcot construction walls will cover most of Future World. Be prepared for less scenery and potentially a harder time getting around.
