Toy catalogs and commercials filled with every toy possible seem to be everywhere filled with all the gifts a child could want.  Children have their lists made on creased pieces of paper.  With eager hands they show their loved ones and are full of hope and anticipation.

1-thing-they-want-for-christmas

We make our lists and try to find the perfect gifts for the ones we love.  Advent calendars, Christmas cookies, and crafts fill Pinterest until it practically bursts. Around us there is so much that is calling out for our attention.  We want to find room to do it all in order to make this Christmas the most magical of all for our children. We tend to want to do more and buy more in eager anticipation of their glowing faces Christmas morning.

When it comes down to it, there is one gift that every child wants for Christmas. It is not the latest video game or doll. It is not the latest iPad.

It is YOU.

Your children want you for Christmas.

They want your eyes to watch them as they play. They want your ears to listen to their stories. They want your mouth to encourage them, to tell them how wonderful they are. They want your hands to play Legos or dolls with them. Friends, your children just want you.  It is what every child wishes for…

How easily we forget this simple truth.  We get lost in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Bouncing from store to store with our arms loaded with shopping bags, we check items off our list. We plan out fun activities to fill the calendar. Every day is packed with a new Christmas adventure. There is so much excitement and it is all so good, but in the end, your children are standing their waiting. They are waiting to simply be seen.

This year, give your child the gift they so deeply yearn for but would never say. Give them the gift of you.

Thank you for sending this message and it is so true, they want us more than anything that you can buy at a store.
