The other day my husband and I were talking about the best movies for pre-teen boys because our sons are going to be at that age soon.  (I’m sure girls will like these, too… but our daughter is only two, so we don’t know yet!)
We love to do fun activities with our kids and family movie night is just one of those!
10 appropriate movies

My husband and I were talking the other day about our favorite movies from when we were a kid. (He seriously doesn’t know like half of the movies that I liked! My favorite was Gone with the Wind- he knows that one! haha!)
This led to us talking about some movies that we think our 8 year old would like…

1- Free Willy.
Similar to Dolphin Tale, they are working towards a larger goal.

2- Dophin Tale – this is such a fantastic movie. It is family-friendly and the kids love it! I love the story line and the determination of the kids.

3- Confessions of a Prodigal Son is rated family friendly age 12 and up by Dove.  This Christian film It will be in Walmart and bookstores March 24th.  Dove states “Confessions of a Prodigal Son” makes it clear that sometimes children-turned-young-adults have to go through some hard times before they realize that God and parents are more relevant than they might have thought.”

4- Facing the Giants – this is a great movie for showing the kids about TeamWork.

5- The Chronicles of Narnia – this one can be fun and light-hearted or you can really read into it and have a completely different outtake.

6- The Sandlot – my husband said that this was his favorite when he was about 12 years old.

7- Back to the future. I can remember my brother watching this one (all of them) over & over.

8- Angels in the Outfield.

9- Rudy – A true tale to teach our kids to never give up on your dreams… I don’t know anyone that didn’t watch this one as a child.

10- A field of dreams (Just a favorite… what can I say?)

My dear friend (& neighbor), Holly, also wrote a post with some great PG suggestions for boys:

  1. Great list!! I especially love Chronicles of Narnia, Sandlot, Field of Dreams, and angel’s in outfield. I love that they’re more family friendly with little if any agenda and more just good old fun and teachable life lessons. Thank you for sharing!!

    1. Oh! Good ones – we just watched Field of Dreams with our kids a few weeks ago. 🙂
