Four kids. That probably gives you a hint to the amount of sleep that I’m getting. I would have to say that the worst thing anyone can say to you is “You look tired.”

In my mind I know that it is another word for “Wow… not looking so good today.” hahaha!! I don’t take it to heart because I know that it comes from a good place. Usually the ones telling me that I look tired are the ones that know me well enough to know that it is the truth. I can usually fake looking AWAKE with some makeup, blush & a nice outfit. I’ve been doing that for years… 9, to be exact.

Today I’m working with Bare Minerals to share some of my favorite ways to take bake your mornings & help you LOOK energized (even when you don’t feel it!)

I need to fake a full night’s sleep & do it quickly. Mornings are busier than ever – trying to get the kids out of the door just in time to hop on a conference call (on video, none the less) after only going to bed five hours earlier.

Here are 5 ways that I fake a full nights sleep (I think of these as my #MorningRescue ideas:)

1- Caffeine. I drink it as soon as I wake up (I’m not a coffee fan, but I drink it because I am usually so tired!) and I drink it again at lunch. Oh- and where would I be without my diet coke at dinner? Yep… caffeine.  (check out my favorite top below… paired with my favorite makeup that you’ll see in #2)

2. Use bareMinerals Complexion Rescue. It has you covered with a quick fix that multi-tasks just as well as you do. I like to think of it as a #MorningRescue for my skin (Since I don’t have time to do those 3 step skin-care treatments every day, this gives me hydration, sun protection (SPF 30) & a dewy coverage that feels light in 10 shades). It has the best of a BB cream, CC cream and tinted moisturizer in one.  I like that it is mineral-based, as well.
3. Put your hair in rollers. I still use rollers because they are SO easy.  It takes 2 minutes for them to heat up, 2 more to put them in and another 5 to work. I usually put them in before doing my makeup, or while I’m getting our kids ready in the morning.

4. Get dressed from head to toe. I don’t leave my bedroom until I am dressed from head to toe. If you want to look sleepy, wear baggy clothes & put your hair in a pony-tail. If you want to fake a full night’s sleep, throw on something that makes you feel good and add a little flare to that pony tail.

5. Add some color. I like to use a little blush on my cheeks or a little bit of bronzer. It adds that touch of radiance.

  1. I LOVE Bare Minerals. It was my go to makeup before I had to give it up to afford to stay home with our kiddos. I’m all for faking a full night’s sleep. With one 16 month old and another baby due any day, I have fond memories of the days before a toddler kick to the face and frequent bathroom trips interrupted my beauty sleep. Great post!
