A messy house can get to you… pretty quickly.  Today I want to share 5 ways to get over the mess, especially in the summer, when kids are home.

1- Everyone pitches in.  First thing in the morning, they do their chores (make a list of 3-4 chores) before they do anything else.
2- Give in and use paper plates for a week.  Trust me… it’s worth it just for a week to be able to give yourself a break on dishes.
3- Eat more fresh fruits & veggies.  Everyone will feel better and be happier & more willing to help out.  Fruit is good for our bodies!
4- Clean a room a day, every single day.
5- Make a cleaning bucket and carry it from room to room.  Fill it with your free cleaning products (info below the picture)

One thing that I don’t enjoy during the summer: shopping for household essentials. Who wants to run to the store when you could be unwinding outside? And you can’t exactly pick up dish soap at the farmer’s market. So in the spirit of making everything more enjoyable this summer, let me introduce you to Grove Collaborative.

The set is everything you need to make summer cleanup easy and enjoyable. Since you can choose your scents for the free Mrs. Meyer’s dish soap, hand soap, and multi-surface spray, you can create a matching set (like I did) or mix-and-match your favorites. I’ve been using the basil scent, and I love how it smells like a summer herb garden.

I also adore this Grove Collaborative Bubble Up, which is a spring-loaded soap dish and scrub brush. It looks cute on my counter, and it’s such a convenient way to tackle kitchen messes.

After all, that’s what Grove Collaborative is all about: making creating a healthy, beautiful home effortless and affordable. I’ve been using Grove for just over a year now, and I still look forward to my monthly shipment.

  1. Thanks for the awesome tips, I will definitely try them! I for sure am fortunate, because everyone at home helps out with the cleaning. I am a working mum after all and I can’t take care of everything all by myself. It took my husband quite a while to figure this out, but after he realised he can either help or live in a dirty house, he quickly came on board.
