Last week, a friend of mine (pregnant with her first child) asked me what it was like to have four kids. I told her about how it was fun, exciting, overwhelming at times when they all need you, but the best thing ever.   She replied… “No, I mean how is your BODY after four kids?”   hahaha!!    So today I teamed up with Poise as part of the Mom It Forward Blogger Network to tell you the truth about your body after babies.

I told her the secret that no one tells anyone else- your bladder will be shot.   That’s my biggest complaint.  At our local gym, it is a running joke that none of us can do jumping jacks, hurdles or jump tucks because our bladders are just too weak.     (It is a gym with mostly women, so we can laugh out loud about this one).

It isn’t a secret in our house or with people that I know because I really don’t think it’s a big deal.  It’s part of life.   Let four babies sit on your bladder for 9 months each and it is going to weaken.   My friends are all this way, too (1 in 3 women experience Light Bladder Leakage, which are just common little leaks which can be triggered by exercise, laughing, coughing and sneezing. Many women also experience LBL during and after pregnancy.)  Mine didn’t start until I had Allie, but most of my friends had it after their first baby.

While there are products specifically designed to help protect women against LBL, many still turn to period pads to help absorb their leaks. But period pads are not designed for LBL.  Really.  I can’t imagine working out while wearing a pad.  Oh goodness.

When I started work with the Poise brand, they told me that they teamed up with Brooke Burke-Charvet to help educate women about LBL and empower them to seize their Poise moment – that exact point where they stop letting leaks interrupt their lives and reach for products, like Poise Thin-Shape Light Absorbency pads – designed for their personal need.  (New Poise Thin-Shape Light Absorbency pads are the thinnest pads for LBL).   You can grab a sample here.   They are thin-shaped pads, offer 3-in-1 protection, are designed to move with you & are 40% thinner than the original, but they stay 3 times dryer.  win-win.

Yes, your body will be different, but it is the best change because it happens for a reason.

I loved this video, too… just more confirmation that is something we can all relate to.
